All courses are non-accredited with ongoing assessment and class sizes are kept small to ensure individual support. Some outlay will be required on most courses but neither the centre nor the tutor will be profiting from this and it is up to the individual how much or how little they spend.

This 5 week course will introduce you to the ancient art of quilting. We will be starting with a simple design and make a project with the finished article.
Learners will cover:
- Choosing fabric
- Tools for the job
- Quilting terminology
- Planning your pattern
- Machine versus hand quilting
- Different blocks
Crafty Creations
This 5 week course will show you how many items can be made in an evening! Maybe a bag for yourself or a memories board for the home. It's very possible to complete one item per class. The list is endless.
Learners will cover:
- Choosing fabric
- Tools for the job
- Planning your pattern
- Machine finished Projects
Private
Tuition
Learning in a group is not for everyone. Therefore, we offer one to one tuition in the comfort of your own home. From the absolute basics to fashion and curtain making!
Learners will cover:
- One to one uition is tailored around your specific requirements. Start with the basics or improve your skills. You choose.PLEASE NOTE. As a general rule, 2 hours must be taken at one time if the Tutor has to travel.
The Genuine Beginner
This course is aimed at those with no sewing experience at all. It's designed to build confidence and give a basic knowledge of the skills involved, enabling you to progress to any of the follow on courses.
Learners will cover:
- Hand sewing
- Terminology and techniques
- Tools for the job – your sewing kit
- Machine control and confidence.
- Moving your skills forward
Curtain Making
During this course you will learn the basics of curtain making, producing a pair of single width curtains as well as cushion styles that will add the finishing touch to any room.
Learners will cover:
- Measuring up and buying fabric
- Confident cutting
- Matching patterns
- Lining curtains
- Finishing touches
Roman Blinds Making
On this 5 week course you will be able to make a blind for your home depending on size. For your first project, you should not attempt a anything too big. If you only have very large windows, it will be an advantage to make a sample blind. You will be given all measuring and estimating fabric instructions as well as additional requirements to complete your blind at the first lesson.
Learners will cover:
- How to make a lined Roman blind
- How to hang a blind
- Accurate cutting
- Getting a professional finish
- How to measure and estimate fabrics
Fashion Sewing Beginners
On this course learners who are new to making clothes will
make a simple garment from a commercial pattern to gain experience and
confidence. Those with more sewing experience can expand on their skills can go onto the improvers course.
Please note, this course is not suitable for anyone with no previous sewing
experience. Learners will need to know the basics of hand sewing and have machine confidence
prior to attending. Our Starting to sew course is a perfect place to learn the
basics.
Learners will cover:
- Accurate body measurements.
- Choosing fabric
- Garments from a commercial pattern
- Confident cutting.
- Confident cutting.
- Getting a good fit
- Finishing seams
Learn to Crochet or Knit
These one day workshop covers either crochet or knitting and are designed for anyone who wants to learn the basics. Hand worked garments and accessories are very in fashion, this would be a great place to make a start. By the end of the day you will be able to work in basic stitches and how to increse, decrease and cast on and off.
Learners will cover:
- Holding the hook or needles
- Getting the correct tension
- Finishing off
- Reading a simple pattern
- Basic stitches –Knit and Purl for knitting. Chain, double and treble for Crochet
- How to cast on and cast off
